Nauticus is at One Waterside Dr., downtown on the Elizabeth River. The Norfolk waterfront maritime science museum features hands-on exhibits that explore the naval, economic and natural power of the sea. Visitors can observe weather patterns on a 6-foot globe, touch horseshoe crabs, see live science demonstrations, construct an ROV (remotely operated vehicle), watch 3-D movies and learn about sharks. The museum manages the day-to-day operations of the USS Wisconsin, berthed adjacent to Nauticus. Visitors can “walk the decks of history” and explore many areas of the vessel. A chronology of the battleship’s history is presented in Wisky Walk: 50 Years of Service. Food is available. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.

White Ticket (includes all Nauticus facilities and self-guiding tour of USS Wisconsin) $15.95; $14.95 (ages 55+); $12.95 (active military with ID); $11.50 (ages 4-12). Parking: Pay garages are available nearby, including off Plume and Main streets.
Hours: Daily 10-5, Memorial Day-Labor Day; Tues.-Sat. 10-5, Sun. noon-5, rest of year. Closed Jan. 1, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas.
