Naval Station Norfolk offers tours that originate at the information center at 9079 Hampton Blvd. The 45-minute bus tours visit sites that include the naval station, piers and the waterfront area. Narrated by U.S. Navy personnel, tours pass by cruisers, destroyers, aircraft carriers and frigates as well as historic homes. The base is home port to more than 100 ships of the Atlantic fleet. Note: Visitors over age 18 must show a valid photo ID. Guided tours are available.
$10; $5 (ages 3-11 and 60+); free (ages 0-2 and active military with ID). Cash only.
Hours: Bus tours depart daily on the half-hour 10-2, late May-Sept. 30; on the hour 11-2, late Mar.-late May and Oct. 1-late Nov.; at noon and 1, late Feb.-late Mar. and late Nov.-Dec. 31; at 1:30, rest of year. Phone ahead to confirm schedule.
