James Madison Museum of Orange County Heritage is at 129 Caroline St. Honoring James Madison, the fourth president of the United States and chief architect of the Constitution, the museum houses exhibits detailing his life and contributions to the American political system as well as featuring his personal possessions and those of his wife, Dolley. Other artifacts illustrate the agricultural heritage of Orange, Virginia, and include farming implements, conveyances and a 1733 tenant farm house.

The museum also houses artifacts relating to the eight Virginia-born presidents. The Black History room features exhibits titled “The Forgotten Patriots of the American Revolution,” “The Enslaved Period,” and “Post-Emancipation.” The front room changes to accommodate a new exhibit every 4 months.
