Pocahontas Exhibition Coal Mine and Museum is off SR 102 and CR 644, on CR 659. The museum preserves the history of the Pocahontas Coal Mine, which opened in 1883 and operated for 73 years. Visitors also may view the renowned Pocahontas #3 coal seam, which is more than 10 feet high.
Demonstrations include coal cutting, blasting and loading as well as the old method of hand undercutting. The mine maintains a constant 52 F temperature.
