Children’s Museum of Virginia is at 221 High St. More than 90 hands-on displays challenge the imagination of both children and adults. Exhibits focus on science, art, music, communications, cultural diversity and technology. Among the learning stations are the Bubbles area, where children can study refraction, reflection, geometry and surface tension by using wands to create bubbles; A Working Port, which features role-playing; and the circus-themed Dr. Forces Traveling Energy Extravaganza, which teaches such concepts as magnetism and fluid dynamics. Hands-on experiences in the CreARTvity space highlight various art forms, including painting, theater and dance. Also featured is the Lancaster Antique Train and Toy Collection. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
