American Shakespeare Center—Blackfriars Playhouse

American Shakespeare Center—Blackfriars Playhouse is at 10 S. Market St. The company presents Elizabethan plays and other works at the Blackfriars Playhouse, modeled after Shakespeare’s original indoor theater. In 17th-century tradition the audience closely surrounds the stage and often interacts with the performers. Pre-show lectures and educational programs also are offered.
