Bruton Parish Episcopal Church is at 201 W. Duke of Gloucester St. at the Colonial Williamsburg Historic Area, off I-64 exit 238. The Rev. W.A.R. Goodwin, rector of this church in the early 1900s, approached John D. Rockefeller with the idea of preserving Colonial Williamsburg. The church itself was erected 1710-15 to replace an earlier building and has been restored. The bell tower was constructed in 1769 and contains a bell that was cast in 1761; it still rings for services.
