York River State Park is off I-64 exit 231B, .8 mi. n.e. on Croaker Rd., then 1.6 mi. e. to 9801 York River Park Rd. The 2,531-acre park is part of coastal Virginia&#8217;s system of estuaries. Guided canoe and kayak trips begin at the visitor center, which contains exhibits focusing on the delicate estuarine environment where freshwater and saltwater meet to create a habitat rich in marine plant and animal life.</br>The park offers more than 40 miles of hiking, bicycling and equestrian trails; paddleboats, johnboats, canoes and kayaks are available for rent during the main season.</br>Guided tours are available. Pet friendly (call for restrictions/fees.). Recreational activities are permitted. Picnicking is permitted.</br>
$4 (per private vehicle). Additional fees may apply for boat launch or pier access. Reservations are suggested for interpretive tours.
Hours: Park open daily 8 a.m.-dusk. Visitor center open daily 8-4, Apr.-Oct.
