York River State Park is off I-64 exit 231B, .8 mi. n.e. on Croaker Rd., then 1.6 mi. e. to 9801 York River Park Rd. The 2,531-acre park is part of coastal Virginia’s system of estuaries. Guided canoe and kayak trips begin at the visitor center, which contains exhibits focusing on the delicate estuarine environment where freshwater and saltwater meet to create a habitat rich in marine plant and animal life.

The park offers more than 40 miles of hiking, bicycling and equestrian trails; paddleboats, johnboats, canoes and kayaks are available for rent during the main season.

Guided tours are available. Pet friendly (call for restrictions/fees.). Recreational activities are permitted. Picnicking is permitted.
