Pros: Ft Magruder Hotel and Conference Center has the reputation of being haunted. On the morning of our departure, April 8, I was walking down the first floor hallway when I saw a lady, all in black, walk directly across the hall into Room 125. However, no one could have been staying in that room. It was locked, and a red sign on the door read "Restricted Area- No Unauthorized Personnel Beyond This Point." The lady simply vanished, as if having entered the room. Pretty cool!
Cons: The pet fee, $55, was more than I have ever been charged at a hotel. With that rate, I hoped that a portion of it might be refundable if there were no damage by the pet. I was disappointed to learn that this was not the case. We would have chosen another hotel,

Pros: There was no restaurant available.
Cons: Hotel was run down. The front desk was inside one of the guest rooms. Staff member were no where to be found and when you did see one they didn't even say hello. Had a room for Coffee and tea in the morning but there was no hot water for tea (in case you haven't figured it out my wife is a tea drinker). The carpeting in the hallway was held together by strips of tape. Our Bathroom was so small. My wife or I couldn't move in it without bumping the wall or door and my wife is a small person 5'5' 110 lbs. could tough the ceiling with no problem. Poor lighting in room. When we were there, there was anywhere from 2-6 buses that was taking up a good part of the parking lot since they had a big section closed. It was a total disappointment. Cost of room was definitely overpriced due to the condition of the hotel and inconvenience.

Pros: The staff was excellent and very knowledgeable. They were so friendly and helpful with recommendations for places to eat and sightseeing.
Cons: Your hotel needs to be refreshed and upgraded. The carpeting is old, fraying and held together by tape. This does not look good or set a good example for a tourist area.

Pros: This property is undergoing a major renovation. There is no lobby, restaurant or bar but the staff makes you feel right at home. I would definitely stay here again don't let renovation keep you away. 1.1 mi from historical Williamsburg.
Cons: The only negative is if you take your pet it must go with you.
