“Stonewall” Jackson Shrine is 15 mi. s. of Fredericksburg via I-95, US 1 or SR 2, then by CR 606 to Guinea Station. On the night of May 2, 1863, Gen. Thomas J. “Stonewall” Jackson was mistakenly shot by his own men at Chancellorsville; due to his injuries, his left arm had to be amputated. The Confederate general was moved by order of Gen. Robert E. Lee to recover at Fairfield Plantation. With the main house already filled with injured soldiers, Jackson’s doctors settled him in the plantation office. The room where he died a week later has been preserved.
