Henry Sheldon Museum of Vermont History is at 1 Park St. In operation since 1882 and housed in the 1829 Judd-Harris House, it showcases objects depicting small-town life in 19th- and 20th-century Vermont, including furniture, textiles, paintings and household artifacts. The Walter Cerf Gallery presents changing exhibits related to art and history. The Stewart-Swift Research Center preserves a collection of 19th- and 20th-century books, letters, newspapers and genealogical records.
