Deception Pass Tours is at 5596 SR 20, 2 mi. n. of Deception Pass Bridge. The bridge, which connects Whidbey and Fidalgo islands, is one of the Pacific Northwest's scenic wonders. Completed in 1935, it spans the narrow passage through which Joseph Whidbey, master of the HMS Discovery and Capt. George Vancouver's chief navigator, sailed in the spring of 1792, proving that it was not a small bay but rather a deep and turbulent channel (hence the name) connecting the Strait of Juan de Fuca with the Saratoga Passage.

One-hour tours aboard the jet-driven catamaran Island Whaler travel through Deception Pass to Canoe Pass and Rosario Strait—known for its large porpoise population—before heading into Bowman Bay. Tour guides relate the history of the bridge and the Puget Sound islands and provide information about the region's wildlife, which includes bald eagles, seals and the giant Pacific octopus. This is a fun way to get an up-close look at an impressive engineering feat and feast your eyes on some gorgeous water views. Whale-watching tours also are available in the spring and summer.

Guided tours are available.
