AAA Editor Notes
Hovander Homestead Park is 1 mi. s. via Hovander Rd. to 5299 Nielsen Ave. This 350-acre park encompasses the 1903 restored Hovander House, an interpretive center, barn, milk house and children's farm zoo. The house is furnished with antiques, and the barn has displays of vintage farming equipment.

The grounds feature a beautiful flower garden, native plant and vegetable gardens, a greenhouse and (for the benefit of gardeners) a weed identification garden, all maintained by the Master Gardeners of WSU. From May through October animals like draft horses, cows, sheep, goats and pigs—many on loan from nearby farms—can be seen, and some can be fed. Ducks, chickens, turkeys, geese, rabbits and peacocks are year-round residents. Stroll the boardwalk on Tennant Lake, hike the park's trails or go canoeing. A variety of gardening workshops are scheduled throughout the year.

Dogs are allowed in on-leash areas of the park.

Pet friendly (call for restrictions/fees.). Recreational activities are permitted. Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
