Fremont Canal Park is on the n. side of the Lake Washington Ship Canal between 3rd Avenue N.W. and Phinney Avenue N. The linear park offers an excellent vantage point to observe vessels navigating the Lake Washington Ship Canal, an excavated shipping channel connecting Lake Washington and the Puget Sound.

The paved Burke-Gilman Trail runs through the park and is popular with walkers, joggers and cyclists. Full-size topiary replicas of a mother and baby brontosaurus stand beside the trail at the foot of Phinney Avenue N. (at Canal and 34th streets). A horn and bell signal the opening of the Fremont Bridge, one of four lift bridges across the canal. Stairways at either end of the bridge connect with canal-side paths.

In June the park swells with crowds during the Fremont Solstice Fair, which celebrates the arrival of summer with music, food, arts and crafts and a parade.
