AAA Editor Notes
Wing Luke Museum of the Asian Pacific American Experience, 719 S. King St., documents the achievements as well as the historical struggles of Seattle's prominent Asian American community. Wing Luke was the city's first Asian American city councilman, active in the development of the International District.

Local artists have contributed their own visions—such as the front door that features a pair of elegant squiggles as bronze door handles—and an enormous wind-chime chandelier. The main gallery presents changing art exhibits, and a museum marketplace offers artwork, jewelry and other handcrafted items for sale.

Historic artifacts, textiles, photographs, diaries, letters and oral histories can be viewed in the Governor Gary Locke Library and Community Heritage Center on the top floor. Cultural exhibits are contributed by Asian-Pacific communities throughout the Pacific Northwest. The museum also sponsors a Chinatown walking tour.

Guided tours are available. Food is available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
