McNary National Wildlife Refuge is at 64 Maple St. The refuge covers more than 16,000 acres of wetlands, river islands, riparian woodlands, upland and farmland along the Columbia, Snake and Walla Walla rivers. One in a chain of refuges along the Pacific flyway, this is an important resting and feeding place for thousands of migrating waterfowl. The refuge offers an environmental learning center, a 1.9-mile interpretive trail and a bird-watching blind. Portions of the refuge are open for hunting in season.
