Columbia Breaks Fire Interpretive Center is 1 mi. n. on US 97A. The half-mile Trail of Fire and Forest has 16 interpretive markers showing how wildfire has shaped the surrounding ponderosa shrub steppe landscape and how people both past and present respond to wildfires as a natural occurrence in the environment. The 100-foot-long Memorial Trail honors 34 North Central Washington wildland firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty since 1929. Three restored fire lookout towers have been relocated to the site.
