AAA Editor Notes
Future of Flight Aviation Center & Boeing Tour is off I-5 exit 189, then 4.5 mi. w. on SR 526, following signs to 8415 Paine Field Blvd. One of the largest buildings in the world, the Boeing Everett assembly plant employs some 41,000 people. The visitor tour begins with an informational video before you board a bus for a trip to the factory where all the magic takes place.
It's fascinating to watch aircraft—including 747s, 777s and 787s—taking shape before your eyes as the tour guide explains various assembly processes. The facility even has a runway where airplanes are tested. One of the most impressive sights is the four-story-high tail section of a 747 Jumbo Jet.
The center's aviation gallery, which can be visited before or after the plant tour, has learning zones with interactive computer stations that allow you to design and test your own aircraft. There also are changing exhibits that display the latest advances in aerospace technology.
Purses, backpacks and electronic devices such as cellphones and cameras are not permitted on the tour; lockers are available.
Guided tours are available. Food is available. Time: Allow 2 hours, 30 minutes minimum.
