Skagit Tours—Seattle City Light can be reached by following signs on SR 20 to the Skagit Information Center. The 90-minute Diablo Lake Boat Tour aboard the Alice Ross IV focuses on the remote, scenic lake setting and the hydroelectric facilities around SR 20. The entire complex, which centers on the source of Seattle's electricity supply, lies within Ross Lake National Recreation Area. One-hour guided walking tours of the historic company town of Newhalem are given on a first-come, first-served basis. The Skagit Power Tour, a more adventurous excursion, is a 6-hour guided van tour of the hydroelectric facilities combined with several hikes. Guided tours are available.
Gorge Powerhouse and Newhalem Tour (includes lunch) $20; $18 (ages 62+); ages 0-9 not permitted. Diablo Lake Boat Tour $40; $38 (ages 62+); $20 (ages 3-12). Diablo Lake Afternoon Cruise $20; $18 (ages 62+); $12 (ages 3-12). Walking tour free. Reservations are required for Diablo Lake Boat Tour, Afternoon Cruise and Gorge Powerhouse and Newhalem Tour.
Hours: Diablo Lake Boat Tour (preceded by a brief orientation and lunch) departs Thurs.-Mon. at 10:30, late June-late Sept. Diablo Lake Afternoon Cruise departs Sat.-Sun. at 1:45, early July-early Sept. Walking tour departs daily at 11 and 2, early July to mid-Sept.
