Pend Oreille County Historical Museum is at the s. end of downtown at 402 S. Washington Ave. This former Milwaukee Road train depot, dating from 1908, displays an interesting hodgepodge of historical photographs, objects from the pioneer era and Newport memorabilia. On the grounds are a caboose, a pioneer school house and church, a fire lookout, a settler's cabin, a hunter's cabin, a logging bunkhouse, and displays of farm equipment and Native American artifacts.
