Mima Mounds Natural Area Preserve is 10 mi. s. off I-5 exit 95; take Maytown Rd. 4 mi. w. to Waddell Creek Rd., then .7 mi. n.w. to the park entrance at 12315 Waddell Creek Rd. S.W. This preserve's 637 acres encompasses a curious topography of regularly spaced hills approximately 7 feet high.
An interpretive center details the natural history of the area and presents the various theories of the mounds' origins. Self-guiding trails traverse the open prairie and forests; wildflowers are at their peak April through June.
