Wonderland Trail encircles Mount Rainier. It is divided into different portions. The 30-mile section from Paradise to Sunrise passes lakes, falls and Box Canyon, which is notable as one of the most unusual slot canyons in America for its glacially polished bedrock. From Sunrise to Carbon River—16.5 miles—hikers enter the park's most primitive area for the opportunity to view Winthrop Glacier, Mystic Lake and Carbon Glacier.
From Carbon River to Longmire, a 39-mile stretch, the trail passes Mowich Lake, Golden Lakes, Sunset Park, Klapatche Park, Indian Henry's Hunting Ground and other points of interest. The 6.5-mile section from Longmire to Paradise passes Carter, Madcap and Narada waterfalls.
