Lower Granite Lock and Dam is 27 mi. w. of Pullman on SR 194 to Lower Granite Dam Rd. The visitor center, accessible by driving across the dam, features displays and videos about the dam and local natural history. A fish viewing room has windows that allow an up-close look into the fish ladder where salmon and steelhead trout migrate upstream.
Guided 60- to 90-minute tours of the powerhouse, fish ladder and juvenile fish facility are offered.
Note: No open-toed shoes or loose-fitting clothing permitted on tours. No cameras or camera-enabled cellphones allowed in secure areas. Tour guests must be U.S. citizens; foreign nationals can register for clearance 45 days in advance.
Guided tours are available. Pet friendly (call for restrictions/fees.). Picnicking is permitted.
The road crossing the dam is available daily 7-5; closed some federal holidays. Visitor center daily 8-5. Guided tours Sat.-Sun. at 10, 1 and 3, May-Oct.; otherwise by appointment. Allow 1 hour minimum.
