Deer Park, in Olympic National Park, can be reached via a 17-mi., mountainous, mostly unpaved road 5 mi. e. of Port Angeles; the road is not recommended for trailers. The parkland is mostly subalpine meadow. A short trail leads to the summit of 6,007-foot Blue Mountain, which affords views of the Dungeness Valley, Olympic Mountains, Strait of Juan de Fuca, Vancouver Island and the San Juan Islands.
Park admission, valid for 7 days, $25 (per private vehicle); $15 (per motorcycle); $10 (per person arriving on foot or bicycle); free (ages 0-16).
Hours: Daily 24 hours. The access road is usually closed Oct. to mid-June; check for conditions before starting out. Ranger station hours vary and are posted on the bulletin board at the park entrance.
