Cowlitz Salmon Hatchery is off US 12, 1 mi. s. on Fuller Rd., then e. on Spencer Rd. N. to 199 Salmon Ln. Facilities for raising chinook and coho salmon include incubation equipment, salmon sorting and fish loading machinery, a fish ladder and a barrier dam. About 13 million salmon are released annually to accommodate the spring and fall runs. Exhibits at the visitor center tell the story of a salmon's life cycle. Visitors can view spawning salmon from September to mid-January.
