Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park—Seattle Unit is at 319 2nd Ave. S. in the Pioneer Square Historic District. The Hotel Cadillac building houses a two-level visitor center that commemorates the city's role in the Klondike gold rush of 1897-98 through interactive exhibits, videos, gold panning demonstrations, a replica miner's cabin and general store and displays of gold bars, hardware, clothing and mining artifacts. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.

Hours: Daily 9-5, Memorial Day-Labor Day; 10-5, rest of year. Gold panning demonstrations take place daily at 10 and 3, mid-June through Labor Day. Closed Jan. 1, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
