Iron Goat Interpretive Site is 10 mi. e. on US 2. Interpretive kiosks tell the story of travel over Stevens Pass, the Great Northern Railway and the railroad and resort town of Scenic, and chronicle the history of avalanches in the region. A 29-ton, 1951 Great Northern caboose also is on display. The site provides access to Iron Goat Trail, which follows 9 miles of former Great Northern rights of way on the west side of Stevens Pass. Guided 3- to 6-hour heritage walks are conducted in season. Guided tours are available. Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
Free.
Hours: Site open daily 24 hours, Mar.-Nov. Iron Goat Trail generally accessible July-Oct., conditions permitting.
