Douglas County Historical Museum is at 124 W. Walnut St. The museum displays pioneer household utensils, furnishings, farm implements, the former Withrow Post Office and furnishings from a former Mansfield State Bank. Sinkiuse Indian exhibits include baskets, tools and arrowheads. The Schluenz Rock Collection includes gems, minerals, petrified wood, meteorites and thunder eggs (spherical geological formations about the size of a baseball). The 73.25-pound iron and nickel Waterville Meteorite, discovered in 1917, was the first recovered in the state. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
