Durbin Rocket departs from the Durbin Depot on US 250 (Staunton-Parkersburg Tpke.). Powered by a Climax 1910 steam locomotive, the 10.5-mile, 2-hour trip travels through the Greenbrier River wilderness providing both scenic mountain and river views as the train makes its way through the Monongahela National Forest. Passengers have a choice of riding in one of two cabooses, an open-air car, an enclosed car or an open-sided car. A 15- to 20-minute stop is made at a picnic area at Hevener Station.
Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 3 hours minimum.
