Droop Mountain Battlefield State Park is 3 mi. s. on US 219 to 683 Droop Park Rd. The 287-acre park was the scene of a Civil War battle that ended the last serious Confederate resistance in the state. Eight different hiking trails, an observation tower, a cemetery and several monuments are on the grounds. A log cabin museum contains Civil War memorabilia.
Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
