Heritage Farm Museum and Village is off I-64 exit 8 (Fifth Street), 1 mi. w. on Johnstown Road, then 1.7 mi. s. to 3300 Harvey Rd. Appalachian heritage is preserved in more than 12 restored buildings, including a sawmill, blacksmith shop, country store, one-room school and log church. A petting zoo, animal barn and nature walk are featured. Museum displays include farm machinery, steam tractors, covered wagons, early automobiles and home technology. Note: Visitors are advised to not follow GPS directions to the farm from German Ridge Road, which is a narrow and winding country road not navigable by most vehicles. Guided tours are available. Food is available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
Guided 1.5-hour tours $12; $10 (ages 65+); $8 (ages 3-12). Doll museum half-hour tour $8, by appointment (May 1-Dec. 1). Petting zoo/nature walk (with half-hour tour on scheduled days, May 1-Dec. 1) $5. Petting zoo only $5.
Hours: Mon.-Sat. 10-3; last tour departs 1 hour before closing. Petting zoo open Sat. 10-3, May-Oct. Closed major holidays.
