Potomac Eagle Scenic Railroad, departing from the Wappocomo Station, at 149 Eagle Dr., 1.5 mi. n. on SR 28, offers narrated 3 or 4-hour excursions along the South Branch of the Potomac River and through a scenic valley, passing fertile farmland and steep mountains cloaked in evergreens and hardwood trees. Bald eagle sightings are common on the trips. First-class passengers enjoy a full meal. Full-day and fall foliage excursions also are available. Light meals are available for purchase or passengers may bring a picnic and small cooler; no alcoholic beverages allowed. Picnicking is permitted. Food is available. Time: Allow 3 hours, 30 minutes minimum.
Full-day excursion $150 (first-class); $90 (coach); $80 (coach, ages 60+); $30 (coach, ages 4-12); free (ages 0-3 with adult). Three-hour excursion $110 (first-class); $60 (coach); $55 (coach, ages 60+); $30 (coach, ages 4-12); free (ages 0-3 with adult).
