The Mining Museum

The Mining Museum is at 405 E. Main St. The development of lead and zinc mining in the area is traced through dioramas, models, artifacts and photographs. A guided tour includes a walk into the Bevans Lead, an 1845 lead mine 50 feet underground; a visit to the hoist house; and a train ride (weather permitting) around the museum grounds in ore cars pulled by a 1931 mine locomotive.

Comfortable shoes and a jacket are recommended.
