Black River State Forest is e. on US 12. The forest encompasses 68,700 acres of diverse habitats. It lies in a transitional zone between Wisconsin's Driftless area and its glaciated central plain, which contributes to its unique geology. The forest offers camping, hiking, mountain bike trails, ATV riding, cross-country skiing, hunting, fishing and several other activities.
Vehicle permits are required in designated areas.
Pets on leash are allowed. Recreational activities are permitted. Camping is permitted. Picnicking is permitted.
