Norskedalen Nature & Heritage Center is 3 mi. n.e. via CRs P and PI, nestled in Poplar Coulee. The 400-acre educational, nature and heritage center offers trails, museums, an arboretum, a visitor center and a restored 1890s pioneer log homestead. The Norskedalen Heritage Site, west of Coon Valley and south of Norskedalen off US 14/61, offers self-guiding tours through 12 historic buildings. Programs are offered some Sundays at 2, May through November. Special events are featured throughout the year. A trail is available for the physically impaired. Leashed pets are permitted on the grounds but not in the buildings. Guided tours are available. Pet friendly (call for restrictions/fees.). Picnicking is permitted.
$6; $3 (ages 5-17); $15 (family, two adults and dependent children ages 5-17).
Hours: Mon.-Fri. 9-5, Sat. 10-5, Sun. noon-5, May-Oct.; Mon.-Fri. 8-4 (also Sun. noon-4 in Apr. and Nov.-Dec.), rest of year. Homestead guided tours depart Mon.-Sat. at 10, 1 and 3, Sun. at 1 and 3, May-Oct. Guided tours depart Mon.-Fri. at 10, 1 and 3; Sun. at 1 and 3 (based on staff availability). Norskedalen Heritage Site by appointment. Phone ahead to confirm schedule. Allow 1 hour minimum.
