Lizard Mound County Park is 1 mi. e. of SR 144 at 2121 CR A. The archeological site is named after its most prominent effigy mound. Between A.D. 400 and 1200, American Indians built the mounds to cover their burial and ceremonial sites. Designed in animal, bird and geometric shapes, the 31-acre park's 28 mounds and earthworks are among the best preserved in Wisconsin. A nature trail is on the grounds.
