Lumberjack Steam Train and Logging Museum Complex Tour is on US 8 just w. of jct. SR 32. Riders aboard the Laona and Northern Railroad’s “Lumberjack Steam Train” travel from the historic depot in Laona to the museum complex. A logging museum at the complex contains logging artifacts from the river and railroad eras through the gasoline era as well as an active blacksmith and harness shop, transportation and agricultural displays, a lumber company money collection and an audiovisual presentation about logging history. The complex also includes an early 20th-century country store, animal corral and a nature center. A 30-minute forest tour by surrey also is available. Guided tours are available.
Museum, surrey ride and round-trip train ride $20; $18 (ages 65+); $8 (ages 4-16); $60 (family, two adults and 3+ children ages 4-16); free (ages 0-3 and active military with ID). Phone to verify prices and schedules.
Hours: Mon.-Sat. 11-4, mid-June to late Aug. Trains depart at 11, noon, 1 and 2. Fall tours are offered mid-Sept. to early Oct. Allow 2 hours minimum.
