Basilica of St. Josaphat is at 601 W. Lincoln Ave. Built in 1901 by Polish immigrants, this Romanesque basilica was designed after St. Peter's in Rome and features one of the largest domes in the world. The interior is noted for its hand-carved marble pulpit, ornate stained glass, murals and gilded plasterwork. Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
Free. Guided tour $3; free (Sun.).
Hours: Visitor center open Mon.-Sat. 9-4. Masses are open to the public Mon.-Fri. at 7 a.m. (also Wed. at noon), Sat. at 8 and 4:30, Sun. at 8, 10 and noon. Guided tours depart Sun. after the 10 a.m. mass. or by appointment. Closed major holidays.
