Pros: Very friendly stafff, quick efficient check-in, excellent spacious room. Great location with plenty to do within walking distance.
Cons: The bed was slightly firm for my taste but that is a personal preference.

Pros: As an architect I marveled at the transformation from insurance offices to a top notch, grand hotel. I seek out properties that are on the National Register for Historic Buildings and it is a bonus when they are a hotel. Loved the backlit, oversize black/white photos displayed in the center stair atrium along with their historic descriptions.. Great location; close to the 3rd District. Looking for an excuse to visit this hotel again.
Cons: 1) Not a huge disappointment, but expected a restaurant with the same elegance as the hotel itself. 2) The entry/valet area is hard to find when you are new to town with traffic whizzing around you and you are not sure where the front door is. Realize this is a historic building, but some sort of canvas awing/other signifying 'entry' would be welcome and would not violate the Register's rules. When we arrived there was no 'valet' personnel' visible so we parked and went in what seemed to be the front door. Right guess, there was a valet person inside. It would seem that they should be stationed outside or immediately move to the outside to service the particular client.
