AAA Editor Notes
Pendarvis Historic Site is at 114 Shake Rag St. In the 1830s and 1840s, settlers from other areas of the country and Europe arrived in the Wisconsin Territory, lured by the plentiful amounts of lead easily found in shallow diggings. As the lead became scarce, and more technical knowledge was needed to work the earth for its deeper deposits, immigrants from Cornwall, England filled the need. At Pendarvis, you can see their restored stone cottages, learn about their lives and come to understand how their legacy was preserved.
Guided tours are available.
