AAA Editor Notes
Prickett's Fort State Park, about 2.5 mi. w. off I-79 exit 139 at 106 Overfort Ln., contains a reconstructed log fort similar to one built in 1774 to protect settlers from Native American attacks. The museum captures West Virginia's 18th-century lifestyle through costumed interpreters and craft demonstrations.

The visitor center offers exhibits about the Monongahela Valley's history and has bike rentals for riding the park’s trails. The park has a nature trail and a hiking trail that follows a converted rail bed to Fairmont and Morgantown. A 400-seat amphitheater hosts summer concerts and performances.

Pet friendly (call for restrictions/fees.). Recreational activities are permitted. Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
