The Nelson Museum of the West is at 1714 Carey Ave. The museum celebrates the American West through exhibits of antique weapons, cowboy saddles, spurs, chaps, Native American beadwork, pottery, baskets and weavings. Cowgirl, outlaw and lawmen memorabilia is featured in addition to the “Cavalry in the West” exhibit. Mounted taxidermy from all continents also is highlighted. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
$5; $4 (senior citizens); free (ages 0-12).
Hours: Mon.-Sat. 9-4:30, June-Aug.; Mon.-Fri. 9-4:30, in May and Sept.-Oct. Closed major holidays.
