AAA Editor Notes
Fort Bridger State Historic Site, 37000 I-80 Business Loop, is 3 mi. s. of I-80 exit 34. The fort was established in 1843 by Jim Bridger and Louis Vasquez. Visitors can see original buildings from the Army occupation 1858-90 and restored Lincoln Highway Motel cabins dating from 1842. Recent excavations have revealed the site of the original trading post, which has been reconstructed nearby. A museum offers exhibits tracing different periods of occupation. Costumed interpreters are on site June through Labor Day.

Picnicking is permitted.

Grounds daily dawn-dusk. Museum daily 9-5, May-Sept.; Fri.-Sun. 9-5, rest of year. Trading post daily 9-5, May-Sept. Phone ahead to confirm schedule. Allow 2 hours minimum.
