AAA Editor Notes
National Elk Refuge is 1 mi. e. on Broadway to Elk Refuge Rd. The 24,700-acre refuge is the winter home of 7,500 elk, one of the largest herds in North America. Elk can be seen November through April; during the summer they migrate to mountain meadows in Grand Teton and Yellowstone national parks and Bridger-Teton National Forest. The habitat also attracts other wildlife, including bighorn sheep, bison and trumpeter swans.
The visitor center at 532 N. Cache St. offers exhibits and wildlife videos.
