Heart Mountain Interpretive Center, 1539 Rd. 19, provides a glimpse into the lives of Japanese-Americans interned at the Heart Mountain Relocation Center following the Pearl Harbor bombing. Designed to look like tar paper barracks, the museum building features artifacts and interactive displays, a reflection room and a theater. A short interpretive trail on the grounds offers eight stopping points. Picnicking is permitted.
Grounds free. Interpretive Learning Center $7; $5 (ages 62+ and students with ID); free (ages 0-12).
Hours: Grounds daily 24 hours. Interpretive Learning Center daily 10-5, Memorial Day weekend-Oct. 1; Wed.-Sat. 10-5 or by appointment, rest of year.
