AAA Inspector Notes
Rooms at this hotel are spread out amid lush jungle gardens, and the tranquil atmosphere is nice after braving the Chichén Itzá crowds. It's within walking distance of the grand archeological zone. A portion of the resort's revenue helps support The Mayan Foundation, benefiting children's nutrition and education, plus elderly outreach. Not evaluated. Facilities, services, and décor characterize an upscale property.

Pros: The grounds, gardens were impeccably maintained. The welcome drink, reception, open air dining room, live music for dinner, secret entrance to the ruins, the cleanest pool I've ever swum in (salt water too so no sore eyes), beautiful flowers in the room and bathroom, free upgrade, I mean, the list goes on....and on. I dream of returning. Our only mistake was staying one night only!
Cons: The food was US pricing and the handicrafts store was not open (but it was a holiday and everyone has to rest) so I got over it. I wanted to make a purchase to support the local commerce and merchant artisans...but oh well.

Pros: Amazing jungle setting with superb wildlife around the grounds. Wonderful service.
Cons: Sealed doors would prevent some of this wildlife getting into the rooms.

Pros: Spectacular location and beautiful garden setting with private access to the Chichen Itza ruins. We also liked the pool. The early morning visit to the ruins before anyone else arrived was one of the highlights of our whole trip to Mexico.
Cons: Extensive building work on the main house which we hadn't been told about in advance. Wifi is restricted to a very limited space around reception and is very poor. The restaurant is a total rip off. We read in advance that it is a bit overpriced but were shocked at the prices charged for extremely basic, average quality dishes, e.g. £12 for a tiny portion of pasta with some basic veg. They obviously know that eating alternatives are minimal and they are trying to squeeze out every penny they can from the captive audience. We would recommend doing some research beforehand to see if there are any alternative places to eat in the nearby village (unfortunately the poor wifi connection meant we couldn't do this while we were there!)

Pros: Great location next to Chichen Itza with separate entrance. Beautiful garden. Large clean rooms with comfortable beds. Breakfast was okay, dinner was better.
Cons: No information in the rooms about tours, services and the restaurant. As a guest I don't want to walk to reception everytime I have a question. No wifi in the room which is ridiculous if you want to be a quality hotel. The restaurant is way to expensive compared to the quality and other places we've been in Mexico, as is laundry service (USD 20).
