Centenario Park and Zoo is about 12 blks. w. of Plaza de la Independencia, running along Av. Itzaes between calles 59 and 65. Handsome, colonial-style yellow stone archways flank the park entrance. It is large, shady and particularly fun for children. The zoo displays a variety of animals and birds, from peacocks and flamingos to alligators, lions and jaguars, as well as species native to the Yucatán Peninsula. A miniature train offers rides through the park.
