Columbia Gorge Interpretive Center Museum, 990 S.W. Rock Creek Dr. in Stevenson, Wash., features displays about the natural and cultural history of the region. Exhibits depict Native American lifestyles, the fur trading era and the harnessing of the gorge's natural resources. Highlights include a 37-foot-high, full-scale replica of a 19th-century fish wheel, a restored 1893 Corliss steam engine that served as the power source for sawmills, a collection of rosaries said to be the world's largest, a railroad exhibit and a diorama of a Native American dip-net fisher. “Cedar Trees,” an outdoor installation, features three 30-foot-high carved sculptures by Native American artist Dudley Carver. “Forged Through Time” is a 15-minute video documenting the Ice Age floods and geological formation of the Columbia River Gorge. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
