Eisenhower National Historic Site

1195 Baltimore Pike, Gettysburg, PA, 17325

Eisenhower National Historic Site is accessible by a shuttle bus that departs from the Museum and Visitor Center at Gettysburg National Military Park on SR 97 at 1195 Baltimore Pike. The 231-acre Eisenhower farm was the only home ever owned by President Dwight D. Eisenhower and his wife Mamie. The house, grounds and buildings are preserved. Visitors can see the Eisenhower's formal living room, sun porch, original furniture and photographs as well as many of the president's paintings, gifts and other items. President Eisenhower kept a herd of black Angus cattle on the farm; 40 to 50 Angus still reside here. A 10-minute video presentation and exhibits about the president's life also are featured. Among the dignitaries who visited the estate were Winston Churchill, Charles DeGaulle and Nikita Khrushchev. Self-guiding walking tours (with or without a cellphone audio tour) of the cattle barns, skeet shooting range and grounds are available. Summer programs include Ike and the Men of D-Day, a 30-minute interactive presentation featuring the weapons and equipment used for the invasion; Exploring Eisenhower, a ranger-led walking tour focusing on various topics relating to Eisenhower's life; and Hike With Ike, a ranger-led evening tour through downtown Gettysburg. Children ages 7-12 can participate in the Junior Secret Service Agent Program. Guided tours are available.
